We learned humanity has their own religion or what they believe in. They all have their own reasons for terrible things happening or great things happening. We can learn that god is the creator and the boss who protects his creations. Relationships back then were very different than it is now. They had arranged marriages and the women were not as equal as the men were. Job made sacrifices for his family because he was worried they had sinned. His family got along well and they drank at each others homes.

From examples the pigs have shown through out the whole book I believe that all people listen to the ones who have power over them. Be it money, or knowledge someone is is following that person. I have seen children younger than 10do whatever anyone they look up to. If that person they look up to finds out and wants to manipulate them they have power to do so. And in the child’s mind there is a character Boxer that says ” he/she is always right”. Children to me are miniature robots, or a sponge, they soak in everything around them and think that whatever they do it must be right (sounds like Boxer). Children don’t know from right and wrong, they follow and can’t lead because the lack of knowledge. People are “pigs” based from the book I read, anyone can manipulate a person it is only a matter of time. An example would be my sister, she is 11 and her “friend” is using her and she is 13. It is easy for my older brother, mom and I to see that she is being manipulated by a “pig”. My mom won’t interfere for it will only make the matters worse and she may never learn but, until her friend turns “ugly and fat” she will try to dodge her.

In my opinion both sides were equal, though each side had their own advantages. I was into the whole trial and regret to speak what was on my mind. The alive team had a loss on the first day, but came back on the open debate, and one of the cross examinations. They  had a fair open debate on the third day, but it wasn’t enough.  On the dead team they won the first day and on the second day played a fair and even debate until the closing debate.  On the third day both teams were equal and even, what surprised me was the thought that both teams didn’t say what they wanted to say when it was the open debate. I truly enjoyed this trial, it gave me the opportunity to speak my mind and hear others opinions on the situation. I wasn’t at the verdict for the 12:20′s to hear what they said about the teams, but from the whole trial experience I’d say that the dead team should have won and if not then it should have been a tie.

I think that Scout is the narrator because she goes through more than anyone else. She also could be Harper Lee in her own eyes. Harper Lee wants you to “crawl into her skin” in the entire book to show what it was like through a little girl’s eyes. She could also be trying to show the depression and show who it had hit the hardest. Do you think maybe she could be also be trying to show the world of 1930? Between the racial problems with black and white I think that Scout’s personal view on how she sees these things is important because it shows it in the eyes of a child. People usually think the children can’t comprehend what is happening in the world, but in this book it shows how Scout can figure out what is happening by asking around and by picturing it as if she crawled into the persons skin.

Tom and Mayella both want to leave the trial innocent and the other guilty and in prison. Tom tells the truth throughout the entire time he has been called to the stand, indeed Tom is a truthful person. Mayella on the other hand wants to tell the truth, but her father won’t allow her to. This does not only make Mayella a somewhat innocent person, but similar to Tom. They both feel sorry for one another and want to win. Mayella Almost told the court that her father was the one who had beaten her up. Tom hesitated , he may have been thinking he will lose no matter what or he didn’t want to see a young woman go to prison.

Tom and Mayella are different in color, background and gender, but that isn’t the whole reason why they are so different. Mayella has an ifinite numbers of advantiges that Tom won’t or never have in his life time. Mayella can go to the best schools and resturants, Tom gets stuck a with poor educated school and probably can’t afford to get into a resturant. In this case Mayella has the racial advantage to win the rape trial and Tom’s race won’t win him the trial only strong evidence.

My concusion is Mayella and Tom both are different, and have certian advantigaes. Tom has strong evidence on his side, and Mayella has the dominant race and a jury that are agianst black people. They are both humans, but in this time and place this was raceisim and the great depression. Do you even think the jury would pick Mayella to be guilty? If Tom had won, what would become of Mayella? Would she be in prison, and the white’s would start to respect the blacks? It all depends on what you make of it. Tom told the truth and Mayella lied throughout the entire trial.

I agree with the critics who are against it. I seriously doubt that a little eight year old could do such a thing to a whole mob. Sure Mr. Cunningham had a chance to walk into Atticus’ shoes, but he couldn’t have been able to stop the man she had kicked from harming her. Scout has learned a lot of things in this book from either Atticus or her brother and neighbors. Scout has learned how to walk in ones shoes or “crawl under their skin”. As she gets older she becomes more aware what is happening in the world she lives in. She runs into things she doesn’t understand and then goes to Atticus for knowledge.

When Jem, Dill, and Scout went to search for Atticus they found a mob and Jem and Dill knew what might become of it. Scout was left clueless and wasn’t frighten as Dill, Jem and Atticus where. Because scout was so clueless she wasn’t mocked by the mobs presence. I understand this part is realistic, but if an eight year old kicked a mob member the eight year old would have been instantly killed along with the others. If this isn’t enough then get this, if a mob leader tells his gang to leave then he wouldn’t have a mob. The leaders have to be the toughest in the gang, and if the leader becomes soft one of his crew members will eventually throw him off.  I am positive that Mr. Cunningham wouldn’t do that to lose his place in the mob, would you?

Lets say this really did happen, do you think that any mob member would let Tom live after what they had thought or heard? If Mr. Cunningham wasn’t there and was replaced by some other random person do you really think Scout could have changed this persons mind? What if Mr. Cunningham didn’t have a child do you think he would still hold back? No matter if you say Scout could still change their mind I still think it is impossible, think about it if you were a mob member and your crew knew that you messed up they would leave you or worse kill you.

I think mocking birds are a central metaphor of the book because the mocking bird only mimics music and entertains anyone no matter what color, or the type of person they are. I think they represent innocence because they don’t cause any trouble and only sing for entertainment.

I think this quote means that the mocking bird represents innocence, andwould be a sin to kill anything that is innocent. Scout tells Jack that he can’t just believe one side of the story, he needs to hear both to understand children. In point of view this is great that Jack now understands one thing about children and that he realizes now that he isn’t ready for kids and he isn’t always right to judge.

When Jem and Scout met Dill they all started to look around Boo Radely’s home, trying to get him out. I think that Boo Radley will end up being the significance or main purpose of the book. He could be in side for another reason other than being crazy. Dill will do anything he can think of to get Boo Radley to come out. I think that Dill will eventually get Jem and Scout into a lot of trouble. Though Dill seems like he could help somewhere along the story and end up being the good guy.
